We are a volunteer only, registered charity devoted to helping find new homes for unwanted and stray cats and kittens. Based in Bollington, near Macclesfield in the UK, we work in the local area doing what we can to help destitute felines.
We take our name, “Silk Cat Rescue“, like a lot of others locally, from the silk trade for which Macclesfield was renowned in times past.
Local veterinary practices provide support to our charity, providing professional services for the cats and kittens in our care who are fostered with us. We don’t have any buildings, or a rehoming centre, to maintain and people give their time freely so our overheads are kept to a minimum even though our welfare standards are comparable with national organisations.
We operate to strict guidelines which means no healthy animal is ever put to sleep and then only if our vets advise it is the best overall welfare option.
We are always looking for new help whether it be with hands-on cat care (eg kitten and cat socialisation,) fundraising or supporting the charity with clerical help or vet runs. If you think you can help us, please get in touch.
