About the charity

We a volunteer only, registered charity devoted to helping find new homes for unwanted and stray cats and kittens.

We work in the SK postcode areas.

Whilst the long since gone silk trade in nearby Macclesfield gives us our name, we also think it nice our name, Silk Cat Rescue, also includes the ‘S’ and ‘K’ of the postal codes within which we work.

Local veterinary practices provide support our charity, providing professional services for the cats and kittens in our care who are fostered, generally, in volunteers’ homes.  We don’t have any buildings, or a rehoming centre, to maintain and people give their time freely so our overheads are kept to a minimum even though our welfare standards are comparable with national organisations.

We operate a no kill policy.

We are always looking for new help whether it be with hand on cat care (eg fostering, kitten socialisation,) fundraising or supporting the charity with clerical help or vet runs. If you think you can help us, please get in touch.
